Business Tune Up

Compassionate support for struggling small businesses

When your business is under pressure, it can feel like you are carrying the whole weight of it on your shoulders. Costs are rising, staff morale is slipping, and you know something has to change, but you are too close to the day to day to see the full picture.

Our Business Tune Up service is built for that moment.

We work with small and mid sized businesses that need a fresh, honest look at what is really happening inside their company. Instead of forcing a complete rebuild, we take the business you already have and carefully tune it so it can operate closer to its full potential.

This is a simple, respectful and confidential process that puts your people at the center.

How Business Tune Up works

We know that if you are reaching out, you are already going through a rough patch. The last thing you need is a complicated consulting program. Business Tune Up is designed to be as easy and gentle as possible while still being very effective.

We use a proprietary analysis system created with experienced business analysts. It is not magic. It is a structured way to combine three things

  1. What you as the owner or manager see

  2. What your employees live every day

  3. When possible, what your customers are actually experiencing

From there, we design a plan that is realistic for your size, your industry and your goals.

Step one

Choosing your package

First, you choose the package that matches your company size.

  1. 1 to 10 employees

  2. 11 to 25 employees

  3. 26 to 50 employees

  4. 51 to 100 employees

  5. 101 to 200 employees

This is based on how much information we will be reviewing. It is very important to select the range that reflects your true employee count, because that lets us dedicate the right amount of time and attention to your project.

For the best result, we strongly encourage you to include everyone who is part of your operation.

  • Facilities and maintenance

  • Delivery and drivers

  • Secretaries and office staff

  • Parking attendants and hosts

  • Servers, cooks, cleaners and managers

The more complete the picture, the better the tune up.

Once you choose your package, the process stays very simple and mostly runs through email and digital forms, so it fits into your busy schedule.

Phase one

Owner and manager intake

The hardest step in business is admitting that you need a hand and deciding to ask for help.

In this phase you tell us, in your own words

  1. Who you are and what your business does

  2. What you are most worried about

  3. What you would like to see change

  4. What is absolutely off limits

You receive a short intake form for the owner or manager. This is a simple set of questions where you explain what your business does, what is not working and what you hope this tune up will fix. Your answers stay confidential and are used only to shape the work we do for you.

After you submit that intake, within 48 hours we prepare the next step, a custom survey for your staff.

Phase two

Custom anonymous employee survey

Next, we go to the people who know your operation better than anyone, your employees.

We conduct a tailored employee survey with usually between 50 and 150 questions, depending on what you want to tune up. The questions are customized for each company and each type of job. A busy restaurant, a retail store, a small factory and a service company do not run the same way. We respect that and we never use a one size that fits all surveys.

The employee survey is

  1. Completely anonymous

  2. Digital and easy to fill out

  3. Designed to take about 15 to 30 minutes

Every employee receives clear written instructions that

  1. Their names are not collected

  2. Their answers will not be shared in a way that identifies them

  3. The goal is to improve the business, not punish anyone

We also explain that this process works best when everyone is completely honest, even if the truth feels harsh. When people speak openly, you get a real chance to fix the things that are dragging the company down.

To make this as easy as possible, we suggest that management place a laptop or tablet in a break room or conference room and give staff quiet, paid time to complete the survey. Each survey is a simple fillable PDF with a special tracking number and is sent directly back to us.

The main job of this survey is to bridge the gap between leadership and staff. It gives your team a safe way to say what they see and what they need, and it gives you a clear view of issues that may never reach you.

What Business Tune Up can reveal

Because the surveys are anonymous and the questions are tailored, important patterns often emerge that management has never seen in full.

Examples include:

  1. Workload and scheduling issues

Staff quietly carrying too much or standing idle for long stretches because of how shifts are structured.

  2. Morale and culture problems

Small everyday issues that seem harmless on the surface but are slowly poisoning team spirit.

  3. Role and responsibility confusion

People unsure who is supposed to do what, which creates frustration, finger pointing and slow service.

  4. Hidden conflict or favoritism

Situations where one person or one relationship is quietly lowering the standard for everyone else and making good employees want to leave. In one past engagement, feedback from staff exposed a manager and employee whose behavior during a specific shift was damaging both morale and professionalism. Senior leadership had no idea anything was wrong because it was being hidden. The tune up brought the truth to light and allowed corporations to correct the situation quickly and fairly.

  5. Practical improvement ideas from the front line

Real suggestions from the people who are closest to your customers and your daily operations. These are often simple, low-cost changes that make a big impact because they come from the people actually doing the work.

After the surveys

When all surveys are submitted, you can take a breath. From that moment our team takes over the heavy lifting.

We carefully review your intake answers and every employee survey.

  1. What is working well and should be protected

  2. What is clearly hurting performance or morale

  3. What can be adjusted without tearing your company apart

Our goal is never to walk in and demand a total redesign. We are not here to shame you or to create a list of people to remove. Many problems start innocently.

Instead, we focus on giving you

  1. A clear explanation of what is really happening

  2. A set of practical, easy to implement changes that fit your existing structure

  3. Options that can be rolled out step by step rather than all at once

Sometimes this means removing a genuinely toxic employee or holding a manager accountable. Other times it is as simple as adjusting duties, changing communication patterns or fixing one unfair policy that everyone quietly resents.

You can choose how quickly you want your results. Delivery time starts once all employee surveys are in.

  1. Expedited analysis is between 3 to 5 days

  2. Rush analysis is between 6 to 10 days

  3. Standard analysis between 11 and 20 days

Both options give you the same depth and quality. The faster option simply means we put more people on your project, so you receive your plan sooner, with no extra work on your side.

Why are desperate times exactly the right time for Business Tune Up

Owners and managers usually call us when things feel heavy. Turnover is rising, customers are not as happy as they used to be, and the usual quick fixes are not working anymore.

In those moments you do not need another generic lecture.

You need

  1. Someone who will listen without judgment

  2. A structured way to hear your employees in a safe and honest way

  3. A plan that respects the business you have built and helps it work better
